If you boot to a Windows XP CD and you get a blue screen with a STOP error it's probably a driver issue.  The Windows CD doesn’t load SATA drivers found on newer hardware, especially systems built for Vista and Windows 7.  You can get around this problem by modifying the BIOS settings to use IDE emulation for hard drive.
