CoNetrix holds a company meeting and dinner annually in February, bringing in all employees, both local and remote, to gather in fellowship and share in success.
In choosing a location for our company dinner, Marvin Crossnoe, CEO of CoNetrix, shared "We look for an event venue that inspires our group to feel pride in our location here in Lubbock, and also provides an uplifting experience that we can share together as a single group." Crossnoe went on to say, "Our company is very diversified and it's important from a cultural standpoint that we provide times to get together to bond as a group."
In February, CoNetrix will visit the Science Spectrum & OMNI Theater to see an IMAX showing of the film "Great Bear Rainforest: Land of the Spirit Bear." The film, narrated by Ryan Reynolds features a subspecies of North American black bear that has white fur due to a rare genetic trait. "We are excited about this film," says Russ Horn, President for CoNetrix, "because it inspires us with a story of how one person can make a difference."
The story of the film centers on the work of Simon Jackson, who at the age of 13 founded the Spirit Bear Youth Coalition to save the endangered white Kermode by preserving its habitat from development. His work was so impactful, he received several honors, including being awarded Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee Medal, being named as one of the 100 Angels of the Earth by UNESCO and, most notably, being honored as one of Time Magazine's sixty Heroes for the Planet – one of only six young people selected from around the world. His life's work was the focus of an internationally televised movie, Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story.
"We were inspired by the history behind the film," said Horn, "and have invited Simon Jackson to speak at our annual company dinner about how one person can encourage change."
